Wanna Make Some Music??

If you play an instrument of some kind and would like to meet up with a group of like minded people, why not give it a go and just contact me!

There is a small group in Tocumwal, but I have just met up with another group who meet in nearby Cobram. The Cobram group meets on Saturday afternoons and the members play a range of instruments including guitars - electric and accoustic, base and not, drums (full kit) and djembe drums and we have a couple of singers. The singers sometimes like to sing cover stuff, but they also write their own songs.

The groups are new and will continue to develop over time as new people come along and others go on to other things perhaps. If you'd like to know more - as I said drop me an email and let me know!

Market Time!

Just one of the lovely things about Toc is the market days. People come from all parts of Victoria to see the fine array of wares on offer, to lap up the sunshine and meet with friends!

The market stretches from the beginning of Denilquin Road and follows the river banks round towards the Newall Highway and the bridge that crosses the Murray river.

Stalls include household goods, locally made and or grown produce, plants, vegetables, health

products, jewellry, clothes, shoes, pancake and coffee places, bric a brac etc.

The market has been successfully running for many years and for information on how to get a stall or when the markets are running you just need to enquire at the local Tocumwal Information Centre, in Deniliquin Street, Tocumwal.

Golf

Whilst flying in the glider at Sportavia recently and as we circled above Tocumwal, it was great to look down and see the beautiful 36 hole golf course in all its glory!

In all this time without rain it still looks lush and green and welcoming. The course is a beautiful one and wildlife abounds especially as it gets darker towards evening.

Even if you're not into Golf, the club itself is a great place to visit, with good food, live music, plenty of entertainment and plenty of people to keep you company! A great way to relax at the end of a day in Tocumwal.

Flying high

Just after Christmas I was lucky enough to be taken for a gliding experience at Sportavia! A friend of mine, pilot trainer and all round good guy George, offered to take me up as his guest. I had told him I'd like to get some shots of Tocumwal and he said "why not?".

Having the opportunity to take photos of the mighty Murray as it winds its way through Tocuwmal is a really breathtaking experience! The thermals were working well that day and we got up to 7,000 feet very easily - if it hadn't been my first flight, my pilot George, would have taken me up to 10,000 feet - but he thought better of it.

The Murray winds itself through Tocumwal and there are many great little sandy beaches to visit. Watching the boats, water-skiers and swimmers is a great way to spend a lazy day! Campers continue to erect their tents well after Easter up here as the days continue to be sunny well after that.

They say Tocumwal has more sunshine than the Gold Coast and we think they're right!!

Do you have any tales of Tocumwal to add?
